Founder & Instructor
Hi everyone, my name is Harkiranjit Behniwal, but friends and family call me Hank. I’ve been drawing, painting, and sculpting for as long as I can remember. Art has been part of my life since childhood and has given me a lifelong appreciation for representational art, traditional craftsmanship, and the simple satisfaction of creating something beautiful with your own hands.
Professionally, I’ve spent the past 20 years building a career in corporate finance. Alongside that career, I continued to pursue art, and over the past several years I’ve returned to it with a much deeper focus—dedicating myself to the study and practice of classical oil painting techniques, including drawing, value, color, composition, chiaroscuro, and the methods artists have used for centuries to create convincing form, depth, and light.
More recently, I’ve expanded my practice through private instruction and commissioned work. Along the way, I discovered that I enjoy teaching the process just as much as I enjoy painting.
That’s ultimately what led me to start Old Masters Fine Art.
I believe creating a beautiful painting isn’t a talent reserved for a select few. You don’t need an art degree, years of experience, or even to think of yourself as an artist. With patience, practice, good materials, and the right guidance, painting is a skill that can be learned.
My approach to instruction is personal and practical. I’ll meet you wherever you are and help you build your painting step by step, focusing on the foundational principles that allow you to create something you’re genuinely proud to put on your wall.
My wife and I live here in Southlake with our three children, and I’m excited to create a studio in our community where people can slow down, learn a timeless craft, and create something beautiful.
